In America Lupino combatte le difficili condizioni del tracciato

In America, nell’ultimo round di MXGP oltre oceano del Team Honda Redmoto, Alessandro Lupino deve combattere contro le difficili condizioni del tracciato.
L’MXGP americano richiama da sempre i migliori piloti del mondo, i protagonisti del circuito AMA non prendono certo l’opportunità di partecipare al Campionato del Mondo.
Le forti piogge e l’alta umidità, hanno caratterizzato tutto il weekend, difficili condizioni sia nelle prove libere che nelle prove cronometrate per tutti i piloti del WW Motocross Park di Jacksonville.
Lupino in modo saggio sfrutta le sessioni di prove libere per trovare il giusto feeling con la pista a bordo del suo CRF450R e valutare così le condizioni per la gara di qualifica. Una incertezza su di un salto ed il nostro Lupino urta il manubrio. Fortunatamente l’italiano non riporta alcuna lesione, terminando le due sessioni rispettivamente 18th e 16th.
Nella gara di qualifica parte bene, per buona parte della gara Lupino battaglia con il pilota di casa Honda factory Evgeny Bobryshev. Seppur in progressione, causa le difficili condizioni, Lupino taglierà il traguardo in 19th posizione.
Le condizioni migliorano nelle 2 gare successive, anche se l’alto tasso di umidità si aggiunge alla sfida. Sebbene indolenzito dalla giornata precedente,Lupino mette in scena la sua forza mentale, facendosi strada per ottenere in gara 1 il 14° posto.
I primi giri di gara 2 vedono il n. ’77’ combattere con Justin Barcia, un incedente nel cercare di passare l’americano retrocede Lupino di qualche posizione. Lupino non molla, recupera e restituisce l’overtake a Barcia a 4 giri dalla fine, riuscendo così a tagliare il traguardo in 14° piazza.
Il Team Honda Redmoto ora si reca nei Paesi Bassi per il penultimo round del Campionato MXGP 2017, dove il TT Circuit Assen sarà trasformato in una tracciato MX temporaneo a base di sabbia (9-10 settembre).

“Il GP degli USA era il più difficile dell’anno. Sabato a causa di un incidente su di un salto dove ho urtato il piede e sono stato scaraventato. Sono stato fortunato, non ho riportato alcuna lesione, ma la pista era pericolosa e tanti piloti sono caduti. La domenica un po’ meglio, quindi ho cerco di spingere anche se dolorante, ma ho fatto una buona manche. Gara 1 è andata bene ho chiuso in quattordicesima posizione, gara 2 poteva andare meglio ma mentre cercavo di passare Barcia sono caduto urtandolo, per questo sono un po’ deluso. Poi sono riuscito a recuperare nuovamente ottenendo il 14° posto, ma per me è stato sicuramente il GP più difficile. Ancora due GP e poi il Nazioni, quindi vediamo se possiamo arrivare nei primi dieci nelle prossime due gare “.

Lupino battles tough conditions in America

Alessandro Lupino battled tough conditions in America, as the Honda RedMoto team tackled the final overseas MXGP round of the year.
The MXGP of America always brings together the best riders in the world, as those in the American series take the opportunity to take part in the World Championship.
With heavy overnight rain and high humidity, the conditions were tough for all riders at the WW Motocross Park, Jacksonville as they headed out for free and timed practice.
Lupino used the practice sessions wisely to get a feel for the track aboard his CRF450R, and to assess conditions for the qualifying race. Unfortunately during one session Lupino touched the footpeg of his Honda machine on a jump, which forced him over the handlebars. Luckily, no serious injury incurred and the Italian finished the two practice sessions 18th and 16th.
After a good start, the qualifying race saw Lupino battle race long with factory Honda rider Evgeny Bobryshev. Having made good progress in the tricky conditions Lupino crossed the line 19th.
Conditions were improved for Sunday’s two races, although the humidity still added to the challenge. Lupino, who was battling pain and bruising from the previous day’s crash, showed his mental strength and made his way through the field steadily to finish the first moto 14th.
The opening laps of the second moto saw ‘77’ battling hard with Justin Barcia, before an unfortunate crash while trying to pass the American meant that Lupino lose a few places. Not one to give up, Lupino rode hard and made the overtake on Barcia with four laps to go, keeping ahead to the end finishing 14th.
The Honda Red-Moto team will now travel to The Netherlands for the penultimate round of the 2017 MXGP Championship, where the TT Circuit Assen will be transformed into a temporary sand-based MX track (9-10 September).

“So the GP of USA was the hardest of the year. On Saturday I had a big crash on the jump where I touched the foot peg and I went over the bars. I was lucky that I didn’t get injured but the track was so rough and so dangerous with so many rider crashing. Sunday was a little bit better so I try to push but I have so much pain, however I did a good moto. The first one was okay and finish 14. The second could be better as when I was passing Barcia I touch him and I crash, so I am a little bit disappointed. Then I come back to 14th but for me it was definitely the hardest GP for me. Now we have two GP to go and then the Nations, so we see if we can arrive in the top ten in the next two rounds.”
